Project Description
A few years ago I did some research on binaural sound recording. The consequence of my fascination with this resulted in the construction of several pairs of microphones that can be worn in the ear … a compromise to the global artificial head. Each iteration of my mics tried to get the microphone capsule further into the ear canal. However, the whites on the right side represent the maximum I could achieve with this technique. I soon realized that the stereo image and the surround sound improves the more “ear” one uses …but on the other hand the sound becomes more and more individualized to the listening habits of the wearer of the microphones and therefore almost useless for other listeners. My new approach is now to build a kind of headphone with “standardized” ears made of silicone, which at least makes “use” of the head of the wearer. I haven’t been able to realize this yet ..but I will ..sometime.
